Description

Round, wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted white with red circles below the eyes. The eyes are rectangular with one outlined in yellow and the other in blue. The chin has multicolored lines radiating down from around the mouth. An elaborate, stepped, tableta headdress is attached to the head painted white, blue, green and red. The body is painted white and red with green and yellow arms. This figure is a female Salako (Salako Mana) Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #118, Wright, B., 1973 #249)
