Description | Large gobelin cloth. With repetitions of a figure, ornaments in the style of the epigonal civilization of Tiahuanaco, as are also pots. This cloth covered the mummy bale. Another piece (Fillet (?)) covered the artificial head of the mummy bale. This fragment is made up of two panels both 34 cm wide and joined in the middle with a saddler's stitch. Mentioned in Ina Vanstan’s book “Textiles from Beneath the Temple of Pachacamac, Peru”, p. 43. (1967). Fig.43. Figure is a "reconstruction" of the entire shroud. Detail of figure in Fig. 45a. Tag attached to textile says "29492 a/b" and "3179 a/b Color(s): Predominately rose, red, off-white, medium and dark blues, and yellow. Repeated figure with crown. |
