Description | Large, spruce root basket called "Rest-in-Shadow." The lowest band of false embroidery decoration includes both the "raven's tail" and vertical "tree shadow" patterns. The middle and upper designs are a repeating pattern of four segments of either "half the head of a salmon berry" patterns or "footprint of the brown bear" patterns bisected vertically. These patterns are separated by five alternating, light and dark, vertical lines. These middle and upper designs are separated by two bands of "tying" or "winding" patterns. Two handles are attached at the rim. Technical notes: twined, close twined, two-strand, wrapped weft ("false embroidery"), three-strand. Three-strand at bottom; three-strand at bottom side edge; selvage. |
