Description | Oval, wood, with a black-painted heart-shaped face. Oval eye and mouth holes, nose, forehead and temples, all outlined with white nassa shells. Disks of conus shell at forehead, cheeks, chin. At top, strip of cuscus skin (fur completely eaten off) deep black cassowary feather fringe. Sides and bottom framed by end to end cowries, a band of fiber, and a cord with small white feathers. According to tag, a Yuat River Mwai mask. |
