Description

Eight-lobed bronze mirror, pattern borrowed from a Chinese prototype of the Tang Dynasty (618-907 CE), may have been actually made in mold made from a Tang original, judging by character of casting, which is somewhat crude and indistinct. Obverse has superb patina, excellent example of original reflecting surface and patination.

Outside Diameter 13.3 cm
Credit Line Gift of Elise Biddle (Mrs. Harald) Paumgarten, 1948, 1948
