Description

Rim sherd. Slightly curves with convex side being undecorated and concave side being more carefully finished. Rim curves with row of pointed knobs at top. Below are circular impressions in a row and a series of raised sharply defined ridges. Single hole piercing sherd. Reddish with very smooth surface on concave side. Jomon style. Dark on convex side. This sherd is somewhat anamolous as it is quite refined with well defined ridges and a series of hole impressions near rim. In addition it is curved in the opposite direction as the majority of sherds. The decoration being on the concave side and the convex side appearing as the interior of the vessel in terms of its finish.
