Description | Wooden figure of seated Amida Buddha on a lotus throne. He is made of a single block of wood with a glass jewel in his forehead to represent the urna. The rough cut form of carving used is called natabori 鉈彫. Similar Buddhist carvings were made by the Buddhist monk Enkū 円空 (1632-1695 CE). |
