Description | Single Huipil Panel. Cotton and silk brocade on balanced ground weave, some floats visible on reverse. Geometric design, zigzags, chevrons and spots in purple, green and black on white ground. Selvedges and ends finished. Excellent condition. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 56 epi, 2 singles, Z twist, white hand spun cotton. Weft: 18 ppi, 2 singles, Z twist, white hand spun cotton. Warp plain weave. Supplementary weft: single and two faced. 1 panel 4 selvedges. Made on a backstrap loom." |
