Description | Rim-sherd from a shallow, open bowl. Medium textured, light red (2.5 YR 6/6-8) clay with a paler surface, decorated with reddish brown (2.5 YR 4/4) to red (2.5 YR 4/6) paint and added white paint. Self-slipped. Band on inside and outside of rim. Added white: alternating groups of four diagonal lines on band in interior; alternating groups of three diagonal lines on band on exterior. East Cretan White-on-dark Ware. The ware in general is discussed in Betancourt 1984 a; this shape is discussed in Betancourt 1984 c: 38-39. Shallow open bowls with various decorations on the inside of the rim are Common in Crete.
