Description | Two panels of hide sewn together. The top rectangular panel is embroidered in white thread with scroll designs and edged on each of the long sides with bands of hide fringe. The sides of the lower panel are scalloped and taper to a point at which an iron bell-like pendant is attached. The pendant is actually supported by a hide thong which is laced through the center of the lower panel and knotted at the bottom rear of the top panel. Seven lizard and turtle-like, hide dirty and stained. Fringe brittle and several pieces missing or torn. Intestine figures very brittle. Pendant corroded. An attachment at top center appears to be missing. Figures of intestine are appliqued to the front of the lower panel. |
