Description | Green, fine-grained rock with concoidal fracture. (Chert or volcanic origin) One end of artifact is also a borer. Boring end is 15mm in length and partially flaked on both surfaces. Pointed and triangular in cross-section. Facets of other end consist of one pre-artifact burin-like removal and one snapped edge., meeting in point at end of flake at approx. 43 degree angle. Width of pre-artifact burin-like facet varies from 5.2 mm (toward midsection) to 2.8mm (at junction of two burin-like facets). Width of snapped burin-like facet varies from 4.9mm (toward midsection) to 3.0mm (at junction of two burin-like facets). Both burin-like facets show wear at junctions with surfaces of artifact. |
