Square handkerchief of piña (pineapple fiber) cloth. Scalloped, embroidered border with a floral and foliate design in cotton. Plain weave. Yellowed, stained in one corner. Handkerchiefs like this one were most commonly used by cosmopolitan Filipina women during the late 1800s. Displayed at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis in 1904
