Description | Second drum from the top of the east column from the South Portal. The uppermost portion of the drum a horizontal band which were originally pigmented, continuing the form of E13576.1 above. Below the bands are four columns of hieroglyphs, arranged around the column at the four cardinal points. Each column begins at the top with a pt hieroglyph, which extends down at the left and right to create vertical borderlines for the texts. The texts record the Horus and Two-Ladies names of the king Merenptah. At the bottom of the drum is the beginning of the column's central decorated band, executed in sunk relief. The king and the god Ptah appear twice each, from their waist up, surrounded by texts again recording the names of the king. Merenptah offers a seated image of Maat to the god Ptah. |
