Description | white cotton huipil. Plain weave, two breadths. Entire surface decorated in single faced brocading. Designs of double rows of stripes, dots, diamonds and zigzags. Colors are navy, pale green, yellow and red. Cross stitched embroidered motifs on lower front. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 54 epi, two singles, Z twist, white cotton. Weft: 28 ppi, two singles, Z twist, white cotton. Warp predominantly plain weave. Supplementary weft is single faced. Two panels, four selvedges each. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
