Description | Four panel screen with images of many people in a courtyard setting, possibly for a funeral or part of the annual observances (年中行事 nenju gyoji) at court. Gold background. Edges wood. Paper backing with floral design. There is a metal Tokugawa mon on the edge. Scenes include the ritual cutting of a cooked crane (鶴の包丁), a procession of archers, a dancer with large drums, and other rituals involving fire and costumes. |
