Description | Sommerville: Maculated Agate-Onyx. Nymph sleeping, Satyr, and Amor or Cupid. Vase and shrubbery fine examples of utilization of the maculated stone. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case D. Vermeule: Mediterranean. Renaissance. Maculated Agate-Onyx. [broken and repaired] in rectangular gilt frame. A sleeping Nymph, a Satyr stealing up on her, and Eros at the left aiming an arrow at the Satyr. The amphora at the left and the trees in the background show excellent utilization of the striations of the stone. |
