| Film Description | Partially edited cultural ethnography views of daily life in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, Canada Documented by journals of Frank G. Speck as having been filmed in Lake St. John with the St. Augustine band of Innu from December 29 1929 to January 7 1930. The film portrays several Innu people also appearing in related photographs especially Tsebic (He touches hands over his head in one scene) and his family and Antoine Minigusk [sp?]. "a Montagnais centenarian". (He is the gentleman with the cane and mittens in MCU). There are scenes depicted in Speck photographs elsewhere of balsam shelter construction, making of sinew and other activities. Roy Blankenship has identified Mohegan anthropologist Gladys Tantaquidgeon as the young lady emerging from the Hudson Bay store near the beginning of the film See also related films in the collections of the American Philosophical Society |
