Events

During the run of MAYA 2012: Lords of Time, the Penn Museum offers a wide variety of programs geared to diverse ages and interests—from a themed Maya Weekend that features leading Maya scholars and a sneak preview of the exhibition, to an Opening Weekend public celebration, to music and dance programs, activities for children and families, special lectures, and more.

This music series provides musical entertainment and an after-work happy hour destination in a verdant outdoor space. Admission: $5 (includes general Museum entry fee); free for Penn Museum members and PennCard holders.

Tres Compadres
This modern flamenco ensemble combines jazz and Latin influences with spirited dance rhythms for a vibrant live performance.

Magdaliz & Trio Crisol
This group offers up a melting pot of folk and traditional music from Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Venezuela, and other parts of Latin America.

August 1
Incendio
A Latin world fusion group from Los Angeles, Incendio balances romantic Spanish guitar with rock-style energy and inspired on-stage improvisation.

August 15
Marimba Pequeña Internacional
This family band focuses on Guatemalan folk music, but also include a smattering of international music like cumbria, merengue, bolero and more.

Summer Wonder Programs
The Summer Wonder Wednesday morning program, designed for children and their families, celebrates cultural diversity through music, dance, performance art and interactive demonstrations, and this summer, two programs tie in to MAYA 2012 with a Central American theme. Summer Wonder programs are free with Museum admission.
